In March 2023, China officially established diplomatic relations with Honduras. After the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Chinese side promised to accept all Honduras students studying in Taiwan to continue their study in mainland China. Among the first batch of 26 Honduras students to study in mainland China, Victor Daniel was enrolled in the School of Computer Science (SCS) at Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU). A student from Honduras, he is infatuated with the rich cultural heritage of Xi'an. His understanding about Chinese civilization is growing day by day. He constantly improves his studies, actively integrates into campus life, and nurtures new dreams in his major, personal development, and bilateral exchanges.
First impression of NPU
"China, a country with a long history, not only boasts rich cultural heritage, but also demonstrates astonishing speed in the wave of technological development. Its influence and competitiveness are simply remarkable in multiple key fields around the world. Northwestern Polytechnic University (NPU) attracts me with its excellent reputation in education and research, as well as its outstanding achievements in computer science and technology." With such ideas and a longing for great Chinese culture, Victor came to China and to NPU.
The moment Victor stepped into the campus of NPU, he was deeply attracted by it. NPU offers outstanding courses that are sparking with passion and wisdom. Knowledgeable teachers here use their unique teaching methods to inspire students' enthusiasm for learning; moreover, the university has strong teaching faculty, including numerous renowned education experts and scholars in their respective fields. With outstanding academic achievements and profound understanding of education, they guide students towards higher academic halls. In addition, the university has advanced experimental equipment and various laboratories equipped with the latest scientific research instruments and tools, providing students with superior conditions for scientific exploration and practical operation. Thus, the students can validate theories in experiments, deepen their understanding in practice, and have a solid mastery of the knowledge they have learned. The first time Victor entered the SCS, he immediately perceived the strong research atmosphere here. The university, which boasts abundant resources and advanced facilities, encourages students to explore cutting-edge technologies, and opens a window for them to access the world's frontier technologies by holding regular academic salons, cutting-edge activities, and lectures. At the same time, Victor also noticed that the university attaches great importance to the cultivation of international students. From rigorous curriculum design to personalized academic guidance, it focuses on cultivating students' practical skills, innovative thinking, and teamwork spirit. Here, students can not only learn the most cutting-edge computer science knowledge, but also keep improving themselves in practice, laying a solid foundation for their future careers.

Strong teacher-student relationship
In a tense and fulfilling learning environment, Victor gradually realized that in order to grasp the learning opportunities here, he needs to double his efforts and try to manage his time more effectively. Faced with heavy courses and constantly updated knowledge systems, Victor found that the biggest challenge is how to keep pace with the teaching progress, ensuring that he can absorb and understand the new course content in a timely manner.
Fortunately, in this university, there are always enthusiastic classmates and teachers who would lend a helping hand when he encounters difficulties. This spirit of teamwork and mutual assistance has made Victor feel warm and greatly improved his learning efficiency. Victor often exclaimed with emotion, "This is the best thing about the university."
The courses that left the deepest impression on Victor were Wang Fang's Fundamentals of C Language Programming and Li Xiuchun's Discrete Mathematics. Ms. Wang's course "Fundamentals of C Language Programming" is so easy to understand that Victor understands programming better and becomes more interested in it. Victor believes that the hands-on practical approach in Mr. Wang's classroom is extremely important for him to improve his programming skills. Meanwhile, the course also provides rich learning resources, such as online courseware and practice websites, allowing him to independently learn and consolidate knowledge outside of class. Ms. Li Xiuchun's course on Discrete Mathematics is equally exciting. This course is crucial for cultivating one's logical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Ms. Li uses clear and easy to understand language to explain complex mathematical concepts. The questions on textbooks and exercise websites have helped Victor deepen his understanding and application of discrete mathematics.
The learning process not only sharpened Victor's professional skills, but also aroused his passion for computer science. Victory's university life is spent in Xi'an, a metropolis where historical traditions blend with modern civilization. This episode has gradually become an unforgettable experience in his lifetime.
Be a friendly envoy between China and Honduras
Victor's leisure time in Xi'an has become part of himself, and he is fascinated with the distinct historical imprint in the city. On weekends, he often plans various activities with his friends, either visiting famous historical sites or enjoying the charm of local food and culture in a corner of the city. One of his purposes for coming to China is to better integrate into the life in China and experience the vastness and profoundness of its culture.
When it comes to the friendship between China and Honduras, Victor expressed high expectations, "I hope that the people of our two countries can enhance exchanges and have a better understanding of each other.". I will also work with other Honduras students to become a friendly ambassador for the exchange between the two countries." He believes that with the increasingly frequent cultural exchanges between the two sides, the friendship between the two countries will become stronger. This friendship is not only based on cooperation and dialogue at the state level, but also rooted in mutual understanding and respect between the two peoples. More and more Honduras international students have come to China. When they arrive, they bring their own culture here; when they graduate, they also leave with China's friendship and knowledge. Such two-way interactions will undoubtedly make the ties between China and Honduras even closer.
I believe that over time, the interaction and exchanges between the two peoples will converge into a strong and resilient bond, closely linking China and Honduras through a platform for promoting mutual understanding and respect.
