On January 20, 2024, Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) held an honorary professor appointment ceremony, in which Sergei Vladimirovich Abrameiko, former president of the Belarusian State University and academician of the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences and Academy of Engineering, was officially appointed as an honorary professor at the School of Computer Science (SCS).
On January 24, at the invitation of the SCS, Professor Sergei Vladimirovich Abrameiko and Professor Mikhail Rulavkov, former First Vice President of the Belarusian State University, visited the school for exchange. The dean of the SCS, Shang Xuequn, Professor You Zhuhong, and relevant teachers attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Shang Xuequn.
Shang Xuequn, on behalf of the SCS, welcomed the arrival of scholars from the Belarusian State University and introduced the development, discipline construction, and cooperation intentions of the school. Subsequently, Professor Sergei Vladimirovich Abrameiko and Professor Mikhail Rulavkov respectively presented exciting reports titled "Dynamic Objects Motion Analysis in Video Using Optical Flow and Neural Networks" and "Science and Educational Activity of Mechanics and Mathematics in Belarusian State University". The scholars provided information on the relevant work of the team's research and development on mobile target motion analysis based on overall optical flow and neural network models, as well as the basic situation and disciplinary direction of the college. The faculty and students attending the ceremony listened to the lecture and had useful exchanges with foreign experts. During the Q&A and discussion session, two Belarusian professors gave detailed answers to multiple questions from the teachers and students, as well as offered specific guidance and suggestions. The attending teachers and students benefited greatly from the intense but lively discussions.
Then, both sides had in-depth exchanges on future cooperation plans and other aspects.
