To promote the high-quality development of rural e-commerce and strengthen connections and cooperation among "Belt and Road" countries, the Rural E-Commerce Seminar for Belt and Road Countries, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and organized by Yangling Demonstration Zone, kicked off in Yangling on July 9. A total of 32 participants from countries including Bulgaria, Egypt, Iraq, Malaysia, Jordan, Palestine, Suriname, Togo and Uzbekistan attended the opening ceremony. Associate Professor Zhang Weiwei, Professor Zhang Xiao, Associate Professor Ma Fei, Associate Professor Yang Beiya and Associate Professor Liang Yunji from our school were invited to deliver lectures for the seminar.

On the full-day training session on July 10, Associate Professor Zhang Weiwei, Secretary of the Integrated Party Branch of Teachers and Students of the Department of Network and Robotics Systems, delivered two lectures entitled Basic Status Quo and Development Trends of China's Rural E-Commerce and Network Marketing Strategies for Rural E-Commerce. He elaborated on the fundamental landscape and evolving trends of rural e-commerce in China, its classification and characteristics, interpretation of development plans and policies, the emerging new pattern of rural e-commerce development, as well as the key issues in advancing regional economic transformation and upgrading through rural e-commerce. The participants engaged actively in classroom interactions and raised questions enthusiastically. Associate Professor Zhang Weiwei provided them with practical solutions and suggestions, broadening their horizons and stimulating their innovative inspiration.

"Through this seminar, we have not only acquired a wealth of practical knowledge and skills, but also been deeply impressed by the development of China's rural e-commerce. I have gained great inspiration, which will provide plenty of new ideas for my work when I return to my country," said a participant from Egypt. Later, the Egyptian participant presented Associate Professor Zhang Weiwei with an Egyptian papyrus painting to express gratitude.

Associate Professor Zhang Weiwei stated, "We are honored to participate in the teaching of this Rural E-Commerce Seminar for Belt and Road Countries and contribute our wisdom and efforts to the development of rural e-commerce in countries along the route. Going forward, we will continue to deepen teaching, exchanges and cooperation in the fields of rural e-commerce and cross-border e-commerce, jointly explore more possibilities for the application of intelligent technologies in rural e-commerce and cross-border e-commerce, and facilitate the building of closer, mutually beneficial and win-win cooperative relations under the 'Belt and Road' Initiative."

From May 18 to 19, 2023, the China-Central Asia Summit was held in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. During the summit, China and the five Central Asian countries reached a series of cooperation consensus, including tapping into the potential of the China-Central Asia E-Commerce Cooperation Dialogue Mechanism.

On September 7, 2023, Northwestern Polytechnical University signed the Cooperation Agreement on the "Belt and Road" E-Commerce Talent Training Base with Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The E-Commerce Talent Training Base is mainly constructed by the School of Computer Science, which will give full play to the disciplinary advantages of computer science and technology, e-commerce and other majors, provide strong support for ushering in a new era of cooperation, and cultivate high-quality talents.

This training program is mainly undertaken by the Department of Network and Robotics Systems, with Associate Professor Pan Wei, Director of the department, responsible for the curriculum design. The Department of Network and Robotics Systems has long been engaged in teaching and research in computer networks, intelligent decision-making, information security, e-commerce and other fields. Among them, the e-commerce major was established in 2002, which fully integrates the professional advantages of computer science and technology, Internet of Things engineering, data science and big data technology, and artificial intelligence. Relying on the school's scientific research strengths, driven by innovation and entrepreneurship, and integrating high-quality school-enterprise resources, the department has established the university-level E-Commerce Innovation and Practice Base, and organized national college students' e-commerce "Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship" Challenge and other events, making important contributions to the cultivation of innovative talents in the university.

Moving forward, the school will fully leverage its disciplinary, professional and base advantages to provide more substantive support for promoting regional cooperation and technological exchanges in e-commerce among "Belt and Road" countries.
