To further deepen and implement the Implementation Opinions on Earnestly Studying and Implementing the Spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's Important Instructions and Accelerating the Construction of the Kazakhstan Branch of Northwestern Polytechnical University (Document No. [2024] 81 of the University Party Committee), the School of Computer Science convened the "Promotion Meeting for Computer Program Development at the Kazakhstan Branch of Northwestern Polytechnical University" on the morning of July 24. In-depth discussions were held on how to run the computer program at the branch well and cultivate more successors to China-Kazakhstan friendship. The meeting was chaired by Guo Bin, Associate Dean of the School of Computer Science. More than 10 teacher representatives attended, including Shang Xuequn, Dean of the School, Li Chunke, Secretary of the Party Committee, Zhao Yuanyuan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Xia Yong, Associate Dean, and Professor Zhang Yu.

First, Cui Helei, Assistant to the Dean, delivered a report on the construction background, development goals, initial construction measures, and current work progress of the Kazakhstan Branch. Experts at the meeting pointed out that although the branch has achieved certain results in the development of the computer program since its establishment, there are still issues such as the need to refine professional characteristics, refine the training process, improve follow-up development, and integrate teaching and scientific research.
Shang Xuequn emphasized that the school should clarify the evaluation mechanism and determine the development path. She noted that the school should optimize enrollment promotion strategies, organize distinctive activities such as summer camps and cultural festivals to attract more students. To address the challenges of a short academic system and difficult training, the school should advance training tasks such as thesis proposal defense, integrate proposal work with teaching sessions, establish scientific research platforms, and conduct joint student guidance based on scientific research cooperation to improve training quality.
Subsequently, participating teachers actively joined the discussions. Professor Zhang Yu pointed out that the school should give full play to disciplinary advantages, develop unique features, integrate teaching, student training, and practical links, and provide one-stop and all-round student development support. Professor Zhao Xinbo suggested that the school should clarify the development orientation of the Kazakhstan Branch, understand students' development needs, and carry out more targeted training. Other teachers also put forward valuable opinions on improving enrollment strategies, optimizing student training links, building a high-quality faculty team, promoting cooperation in scientific research platforms, and creating employment and entrepreneurship conditions for students. In-depth discussions were held on how to leverage the advantages of the School of Computer Science and develop its distinctive characteristics.

In his concluding speech, Li Chunke stated that the establishment of the special work team is an important arrangement of the university Party Committee to promote the high-quality construction of the Kazakhstan Branch. A preliminary plan for the development of the computer discipline at the Kazakhstan Branch was finally determined, and the "1234" work initiative was formulated, which includes "one team for one goal, two camps and two funds, three implementations and three guarantees, and four inclusions and four inclinations". He required all staff of the school to raise their standing, unify their thinking, conduct careful research, improve measures, pursue win-win cooperation, and develop distinctive features.

The successful holding of this meeting has laid a solid foundation for the development of the computer program at the Kazakhstan Branch. In the future, guided by General Secretary Xi Jinping's ardent expectation of "cultivating more successors to China-Kazakhstan friendship", the school will contribute the strength of the School of Computer Science to the Kazakhstan Branch of Northwestern Polytechnical University.
