In the golden September, with the fragrance of sweet-scented osmanthus wafting through the air, Chinese and international students from the School of Computer Science gathered at the New Auditorium on the evening of September 28. Amidst the joyous atmosphere of the joint celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day, they welcomed the new students with a diverse array of performances, including singing, dancing, and instrumental music. With the host's enthusiastic opening, the welcome event for the Class of 2025 international students officially began with warmth and cheer.

To kick things off, the Crosstalk (Xiangsheng) performance The Guidance and Application of Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity in Crosstalk Creation, performed by Chen Zhuoyan and Li Chongyu, stunned the entire venue. Ingeniously blending rigorous scientific theories with the witty art of Crosstalk, they showcased a unique artistic flair through humorous language and vivid acting. Applause and cheers erupted from the audience, instantly igniting the atmosphere.

The performances that followed shifted in style but were equally spectacular. The street dance The Big Stoppers, performed by a team of students from multiple countries, interpreted the power of youth with dynamic rhythms and sharp moves. Students from different nations coordinated perfectly on stage, their body language transcending linguistic barriers and fully releasing the vitality of multiculturalism.

Kolya Turnandakh's Beatbox performance was even more "breathtaking." Using only his mouth to simulate a rich variety of rhythms and melodies—from drum beats to sound effects—every detail was precise, allowing the audience to immersively experience the unique charm of a "human vocal band." The dance Like Jennie by the Jiu Xian Yin Art Troupe Dance Team then showcased the confidence of Chinese university students with stylish and cool choreography. The dance moves blended perfectly with the music, conveying the flamboyance and vitality of youth to everyone present.

If the previous acts were a "fiery carnival," then TAO MENGTAY's Violin and Khmer Bamboo Flute Solo was a "quiet romance." The elegance of the Western violin met the ethereal resonance of the Eastern Khmer bamboo flute; the collision of these two distinct instruments created a moving melody, resembling a cross-regional "musical dialogue." The audience listened with bated breath, feeling the beauty of the fusion between Eastern and Western cultures. Following this, Erdenejargal Tuvshintulga's lyrical song conveyed delicate emotions with a clear voice. Despite the language difference, the gentle power of the music went straight to the heart, wrapping the venue in a heartwarming atmosphere.

The "mid-show surprise" was the interactive segment: the "Whiteboard Relay Gallery." Three mixed teams of Chinese and international members had to complete a "guess and draw" relay challenge within 60 seconds, testing their teamwork and imagination. The collaboration brought the team members closer and shifted the atmosphere from artistic romance to a lively gathering.

The second half of the program focused on "emotional resonance," using song to convey inner feelings. The medley Secret + Meet by Zhang Jinmin and Liu Yuhan evoked memories of "secrets" and "encounters" in youth with gentle melodies, prompting the audience to sing along softly. Full of Love by Zhang Yicheng and Zhang Yahan then conveyed a beautiful yearning for love with a cheerful rhythm, filling the singing with sweetness and passion.OUMAIMA AIT-LHAJ performed the classic French song L'Hymne à l'amour (Hymn to Love), showcasing exotic charm with romantic French vocals and allowing the audience to feel the true meaning of "love knows no borders" through the melody. Hu Anbo's Running to You with All I Have pushed the atmosphere to a climax, with impassioned singing full of determination to strive for dreams and friendship.

Towards the end of the gala, a song accompanied by Russian folk instruments performed by Anastasia drew a perfect period to the event. The unique timbre of the folk instruments, combined with soulful singing, was full of exotic flair, adding a touch of distinct romance to the evening. When the last note faded, the applause lasted for a long time, signifying both appreciation for the performers and reluctance to let this beautiful time end.

"Tonight, songs and laughter converge into a warm ocean; tonight, the friendship and emotions of Chinese and international students are closely connected here." As the host remarked at the conclusion, this welcome event was more like a warm gathering that connected hearts. Although the gala has ended, the NPU story for the new students has just begun its warm prologue. In the future, they will carry this beautiful beginning with them, walking hand in hand within the big family of the School of Computer Science, and using youth as their pen to write their own brilliant chapters!
