To improve the quality of international talent cultivation and encourage students to study abroad, the Ritsumeikan University Overseas Graduation Project/Research Training Program is now being implemented. The specific details are as follows:
I. Program Introduction
This program is open to undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled in Computer Science and Technology and related majors at Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU). Provided by Ritsumeikan University in Japan, the program offers research training where students will engage in topic-based research for three months. Through supervision, academic discussions, and research surveys, students will undergo scientific research training in an international academic environment to enhance their research capabilities.
Ritsumeikan University (Japanese: Ritsumeikan Daigaku), often abbreviated as Ritsumeikan or Rits, is a private university located in the Kansai region. It has ranked 3rd among Japanese private universities for five consecutive years in the 2025 QS World University Rankings and ranks 15th among all universities in Japan. Located in Kyoto, the capital of history and culture, Ritsumeikan University brings together rich cultural heritage and a spirit of innovation, offering students a learning experience that blends tradition with modernity. The university boasts advanced research facilities and an open international exchange system, attracting students from over 100 countries annually.
Under the guidance of supervisors and PhD teaching assistants (TAs), students will conduct independent research centered on their respective research directions. They will participate in weekly research progress reports and seminars, meet with supervisors monthly, and submit a final report and give a presentation at the end of the program.

Dates: December 15, 2025 – March 14, 2026
Duration: 3 months
II. Program Fees
Fee: 7,500 RMB/month/person.
Inclusions: Course guidance fees, accommodation (3-4 person shared rooms), supervisor coaching fees, on-campus research arrangements, management and service fees, etc.
Exclusions: International round-trip airfare, visa fees, meals, personal expenses, and overseas insurance.
III. Program Arrangements
Academic Training
Weekly: Project progress meetings hosted by PhD TAs (1 session/week).
Monthly: Guidance meetings with supervisors (1 session/month).
Final Output: Project Report + Achievement Presentation.

IV. Eligibility and Application Method
Eligibility:
Undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled in Computer Science and Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, and related majors at NPU.
Good English communication skills.
Serious attitude towards learning and the ability to complete research tasks independently.
Physical and mental health, ability to adapt to short-term study and life overseas, and compliance with local laws and university regulations.

V. Funding
Undergraduate Students: Funding will be determined in accordance with the Administrative Measures for Funding Undergraduate Students of Northwestern Polytechnical University for Overseas Exchanges. Specific matching funding will be confirmed after the number of applicants is finalized.
