[Written by Sheng Hongyan, from School of Computer Science] At 10:30 on April 30th, representatives of teachers and students, Party and League cadres, student leaders of School of Computer Science watched the Commemoration Meeting of 100th Anniversary of The May 4th Movement in the 130 Meeting Room. The May 4th Movement has bred the great spirit of patriotism, progress, democracy and science After 100-year development, integration and practice, it has been the spiritual support for Chinese nation to realize modernization and stand proudly in front of the world.Today, the young students gathered together to study President Xi’s important speech, cherish the memory of revolutionary martyrs, inherit the May 4th Movement Spirit and assume the historical task given by the new age.

During the meeting, President Xi pointed out that youth is the most active and vigorous force in the whole social forces, who are the hope of the country and the future of the nation.Today, Chinese youth in the new era is at the best period for the development of Chinese nation, when they not only face the hard-won opportunity of making contributions and achieving goals, but also shoulder the mission of the age “When Heaven is about to place a great responsibility on them”. Chinese youth in the new era should continue to carry forward the May 4th Movement Spirit and take the “bringing about a great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation” as their own duty and live up to the Party’s expectation, people’s expectation, nation’s great trust as well as this great age. President Xi raised six requirements for Chinese youth in the new era: first, Chinese youth in the new era should set up lofty ideals; second, Chinese youth in the new era should love our great country; third, Chinese youth in the new era should assume the responsibilities given by the age; fourth, Chinese youth in the new era should be brave in studying and working hard; fifth, Chinese youth in the new era should train themselves to master skills and improve themselves; sixth, Chinese youth in the new era should cultivate their morality and good behavior.

In the meeting, teachers and students of School of Computer Science made a heated discussion on President Xi’s important speech content and talked about their own thoughts.
