Three Professors of Northwestern Polytechnical University were Elected as Directors of the Next China Computer Federation, and One of them was Elected as the Executive Director

The 12th Members Reppresentative Assembly of the China Computer Federation (CCF) was held in Suzhou from October 19 to 20, 2019. More than 450 delegates and candidates from all over the country attended the meeting.

The members' representatives of the meeting were elected by the members. After a competitive election, the next council of CCF was voted by the members' representatives through a secret ballot.

Three professors, Zhang Yanning, Yu Zhiwen, and Li Zhanhuai of Northwestern Polytechnical University, were elected as directors of CCF, the number ranks fifth across the country, behind Tsinghua University, Peking University, Institute of Computing Technology Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Harbin Institute of Technology.

Professor Yu Zhiwen was elected as the executive director after a live campaign speech and a secret ballot. The new council is composed of 20 executive directors from academia (universities or research institutes), besides professor Yu, the other executive directors are from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Fudan University, China University of Science and Technology, National University of Defense Technology, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Tianjin University, Renmin University of China, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Jilin University, Institute of Computing Technology Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Automation Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jiangnan Institute of Computing.

The three professors will undertake more responsibilities for CCF governance and membership services, and expand the impact of the university's computer science.


Zhang Yanning, Assistant to the President of Northwestern Polytechnical University, member of the Scientific Appraisal Group of the Academic Degree Commission of the State Council, special professor of "Yangtse River Scholar" of the Ministry of Education, the leading talent of the first batch of "Ten-Thousand Talents Program" of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, and the technical chief of the National Defense 973 Program. She is an expert of the Expert Group of General Assembly Investigation Surveying and Mapping, an expert of the Expert Group of General Assembly of Earth Observation and Demonstration. She is mainly engaged in researches of image processing and computer vision. She has successively undertaken more than 40 national-level projects, including key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the projects of the National High-tech/Defense R&D Program (863 Program), General Assembly Advanced Research, Major Special Advanced Research of High-resolution Earth Observation, and Space Debris Program. She has published more than 100 papers in IEEE TPAMI, IEEE TIP, PR, IEEE TSMC-B, Info. Fusion, CVPR, ICCV and other domestic and international authoritative journals and important international conferences in this field, and won two Best Paper Award in international conferences. Her research results have been successfully applied in aerospace, aviation, energy, water conservancy and other industries. She was awarded the title of "National March 8th Red Banner Holder" in 2004, the award of Program for National Excellent Talents in 2005 , and title of Advanced Individual in Tackling Key Problems of General Assembly 863 Science and Technology in 2011, she was also selected as the leading talent of young and middle-aged science and technology innovation in the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC.



Yu Zhiwen, General Secretary of the School of Computer Science of Northwestern Polytechnical University, winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and the leading talent of the National "Ten-Thousand Talents Program". At present, he is the director of the Key Laboratory of the Intelligent Perception and Computing of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the director of the Key Laboratory of the Embedded System Technologies in Shaanxi Province, and the charge of the Key Scientific and Technological Innovation Team in Shaanxi Province. Mainly engaged in research on mobile Internet, pervasive computing, human-computer system, social perception and other areas. He has published more than 150 papers in top international academic journals and conferences, such as IEEE TMC, IEEE TKDE, INFOCOM, UbiComp, KDD and so on. More than 80 papers were included in SCI and 7 papers were highly cited by ESI. He is a member of the editorial board of the international authoritative journals like IEEE THMS, IEEE Comm. Magazine, ACM IMWUT, etc. He is the executive director of CCF, an outstanding member, the vice committee director of the Pervasive Computing Professional Committee and the vice committee director of the Cooperative Computing Professional Committee. He has won the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award of the CCF, the Young Scientist Award of the CCF, the first batch of National Excellent Young Scientists Fund, the Second Prize of National Teaching Achievement Award and the Second Prize of Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education.



Li Zhanhuai, the professor in the School of Computer Science of Northwestern Polytechnical University, is currently the director of the Key Laboratory of Big Data Storage and Management, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. He has been engaged in basic research and system development in the field of database for a long time. He is the the director of the Special Committee of CCF Database, a member of the Special Committee of Computer Application the Chinese Academy of Astronautics, and a member of the Commission of Teaching Instruction of Institution of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education from 2013 to 2017. He has acted as the member or chairman of the Program Committee of international academic conferences for several times. He was responsible for multiple national scientific projects, such as 973 Program, the key R&D plans of the Ministry of Science and Technology of P.R.C., the key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the major international cooperation projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the major projects of the National High-tech R&D Program (863 Program), general projects of Chinese Defense Advance Research Program and others. His several database systems have been applied in the related academies, institutes and enterprises. He has won the first prize and the second prize twice respectively at the provincial and ministerial levels.
