[Gao Wu, School of Computer Science] In order to further promote the development of computer discipline, Northwest Polytechnic University held the 60th Anniversary Conference of Computer Science and High-end Forum of Computer Discipline in Chang'an Campus on December 2, 2018.Shen Xubang, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wu Jianping, Head of Computer Department, Tsinghua University, and Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Fan Bangkui, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, a research institution of Joint Staff, Feng Dagan, IEEE Fellow and Academician of Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering, Professor Zhang Xiaodong, ACM Fallow, IEEE Fellow, Head of Computer Department, Ohio State University, US, Pei Jian, ACM Fallow, IEEE Fellow, JD.com Vice President, Professor of Simon Fraser University, Canada, Ren Chao, Deputy Director of Academic Degree Center of the Ministry of Education, and representatives from more than 50 other universities, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Fudan University, University of Science and Technology of China, Beihang University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, China Aviation Industry Research Institute 631, Aerospace Research Institute 771, ZTE Corporation, Xi'an Huawei and other employers were invited to attend the conference.Zhang Wei, Secretary of Party Committee of the University, Dai Guanzhong, Former President, Wu Bin, Former Vice President, Zhang Yanning, President Assistant, leaders of relevant functional departments, representatives of School, old leaders of the School, retired teachers, representatives of teachers and students attended the conference.The conference was presided over by Yu Zhiwen, Secretary of Party Committee of School of Computer Science.

Zhang Yanning delivered a speech on behalf of the University first.Professor Zhang Shengbing, vice- dean (presiding over the work) of School of Computer Science, reported the development of computer discipline.Teacher Representative Zhou Xingshe, Professor of School of Computer Science, Liu Bin, Representative of the School and Winner of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and Professor of Tsinghua University, Professor Lv Weifeng, Representative of brother colleges and Dean of Beihang University addressed at the conference separately.After the conference, all participants took a group photo at the entrance of Nanshan Garden.Some alumni representatives visited the university history gallery in the South Building of School of Computer Science to review the history, share friendship, exchange experiences and offer advice and suggestions for the development of computer discipline.

At the high-end forum on compute discipline, Academician Wu Jianping delivered a lecture onResearch on the Origin of Computer Science and Promoting the Development of Computer Science, Professor Zhang Xiaodong introducedThe Challenges and Opportunities of Big Data Processing in the Post-Moore Era, Professor Pei Jian introducedFuture Retail Supply Chain: Technological Innovation to Business Model, Professor Feng Dagan delivered a lecture entitledComputer Science and Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Field: Challenges and Solutions, Professor Feng Dan, Dean of Computer School of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, introduced the progress ofResearch on Data De-duplication Technology, and Professor Wang Xiaoyang, Dean of School of Computer Science of Fudan University, delivered a lecture onIntelligent Decomposition and Guidance in Large Search System.These lectures covered the development history of computer discipline, the main challenges faced and coping strategies, as well as the future research hotspots and trends, and contributed to a gluttonous academic feast in the field of computer science for teachers and students in the University.
