The Chinese Conference on Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision (PRCV 2019) Was Held in Xi'an

The Chinese Conference on Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision (PRCV 2019) was held in Xi'an from November 8 to 11. More than 1,800 experts and scholars from home and abroad engaged in the theory and application of pattern recognition and computer vision gathered together and discussed the latest theories and technological achievements in related fields.

The conference is co-held by China Computer Federation (CCF), Chinese Association of Automation (CAA), China Society of Image and Graphics (CSIG) and Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI), co-sponsored by Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xidian University, Shaanxi Normal University, and Fengdong New Town Management Committee of Xixian New Area.Tan Tieniu, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Automation of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zheng Nanning, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Professor Chen Xilin of Institute of Computing Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Zhang Yanning of Northwestern Polytechnical University co-chaired the meeting.The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Zhang Yanning.


Academician Tan Tieniu delivered a welcoming speech and briefly introduced the preparations for the conference.


Academician Zheng Nanning introduced the theme and background of the conference.


Chen Jianyou, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Northwestern Polytechnical University, delivered a speech on behalf of the university and introduced the university's discipline construction, personnel training and scientific research.


Lin Zhouchen, Professor of Peking University, and the Chairman of the Conference Procedures Committee, explained the procedural arrangements of the Conference.


Tinne Tuytelaars, Tenured Professor, from Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, Jia Jiaya, Tenured Professor, from Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the Distinguished Scientist of Tencent YouTu Lab, Jiao Licheng, chief of the innovation team of the "Changjiang Scholars Support Program" of the Ministry of Education and director of the Computer Science and Technology Department of Xidian University, delivered special presentations at the conference entitled "Keep on Learning", "Progress in Image Processing" and "Challenges and Reflections on Post In-depth Learning".


The conference focused on the hot topics such as artificial intelligence, pattern recognition and computer vision. Through academic reports, special forums on brain-like vision, workshops on robust and interpretable artificial intelligence, and special committee salons, the conference enhanced communications among experts and scholars from relevant fields, broadened the docking channels between industry, university, and research institutes, and provided a platform for enterprises in the field.China has taken the lead in the field of pattern recognition and computer vision. And this conference will further enhance China's world influence and voice in this field.

It is reported that the conference also selected the Best Paper, Best Student Paper and other awards, all selected papers have been published by Springer Publishing House.As the main organizer of the meeting, the organization won the recognition of the participants.At the same time, as part of general education, undergraduates and postgraduates of School of Computer Science also go to the scene to study.

"Accelerating the development of a new generation of artificial intelligence is an important strategy for us to win the initiative in global science and technology competition." In recent years, facing the frontier challenges and strategic opportunities of the new generation of artificial intelligence, big data, Made in China 2025, Cyberpower and so on, the Northwestern Polytechnical University has stayed committed to adjusting and optimizing the disciplinary layout, and thus formed the professional directions of intelligent sensing and micro-system design, man-machine-object fusion intelligent computing and so on.In particular, a number of key technological achievements have been made and successfully transformed in the field of Aerospace and Haida data research, which provides a strong support for promoting technological progress and industrial development in related fields.
